tis the season

On Sunday, Alex's work arranged for a day at a Christmas park set-up. It was like being in a cross between Candy-Land and some kind of tropical fair. We loved it! Get ready for a bit of a photo dump.

Now I want to wrap our palm tree in our yard for Christmas!

Santa arrives with his elves. All the parents brought gifts for Santa to hand out later.

playing in the rain/photoshoot

There is nothing quite like playing and splashing in the rain when you're a kid. The rain may be cold but the sensation of it hitting your skin and the feel of water beneath your feet is so good, you don't even notice a chill. It seems like the rainy season is upon us now. Sunny, beautiful mornings turn into very wet afternoons. The kind of days where you have to start your laundry early or it will be soaked before it dries. (haha, boring point, I know!) Alex and I love watching Luc in moments like this. He had such a great time, that we turned it into a photoshoot, (mainly because the video camera was out of battery) for Luc and for me. We haven't taken as many belly pictures for this pregnancy, but don't worry, I'll be sharing those later.

unfinished projects

Not everything got completed in time for the holiday season this year. I had planned on decoupaging these letters, and although I could still do it, I don't feel it's necessary. I'll save the project for next year and may come up with an even better idea.

I also cut out a tree skirt from some canvas material, and had planned on cutting out 4 or 5 more coral shapes from the red felt to sew on, but now I realise how much time that is going to take me (I've got to get some sharper scissors!) and I'm going to settle on just sewing on some red bias tape along the edges and that will be it. Luc has taken to sitting under the tree to read the Christmas books we've left out there for him, and I'd rather he have a place to sit for now. Another project that can wait until next year.

This little blue angel was sent from home last year, and made it to our advent calender this year.

Do you see how close together I had to put all the clothespins in order for them to fit on this piece of wood? I'm thinking next year I may use little envelopes and create a scavenger hunt for Luc, or simply fill each envelope with a small activity. What I like about this set up is that we can change it up from year to year, and during the non-holiday season, we could use this to display artwork or pictures!

First up for our advent ornaments, a handstitched felt bird from leftover scraps. Luc enjoyed cutting up the felt with me one day while I put this together. He was also pretty excited to start putting even MORE ornaments on our tree.
